Born in Chicago, she worked in her birthplace for several years developing an expressionist technique in her printmaking. Her subjects mirrored the political issues of the day during the 1930s and 1940s.

A good impression with of this extremely rare composition with margins annotated "or John the Baptist #1 Both famous men in the Black Ghetto" done for the WPA with a stamp on the backing for the frame---another impression exhibited at the MUSEUM OF MODERN ART IN NEW YORK in 1940
