Zavaro, Albert
(1925-2022)
Born in Istanbul, Turkey of Spanish descent, he later lived and worked in Paris where he taught painting at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts. He was a painter in a very poetic way, first of land and city scapes and then of people in their various interactions. Introduced to his art by R. Stanley Johnson at his INTERNATIONAL GALLERY in Chicago, we were very taken with the work. We then had the pleasure of visiting with Zavaro and his wife in Paris in the late 1980s. His studio was a really wonderful viewing experience.
He was also represented by GALLERY FRAMOND as well as the prestigious ART CURIAL GALLERY in Paris and also was very popular in Japan where he had many exhibits. He remains one of our favorite artists.
